Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette (My Thoughts)

Well first of all I have to say a big Thankyou to Littlemisstyleguru (http://littlemissstyleguru.blogspot.co.uk/) for gifting me this palette. You didn't have to Vinny and I do really appreciate it :D

So this is the first ever Urban Decay product I have tried (I'm really tempted to get the Electric palette when I've got some more money) and I have to say I am seriously in love with it. Not only is the packaging amazing but the eyeshadows themselves are just....WOW!

This palette retails at around £42.00 and like the Vice 1 Palette it is limited edition, so it's really you have to get it when it's out kinda thing.

Okay so this is what the palette looks like. It's a really nice purple marble effect, with a jewelled UD in the middle. When you open the palette it has a full mirror and 20 eyeshadows in total. The palette also comes with a double ended brush ( the bristles are synthetic and it is really good for applying and blending eyeshadow). All the eyeshadows are individually named and here are the names:

Top Row: Smokeout, Lovesick, Shellshock, Coax, X-rated
Second Row: Prank, Madness, Strike, Stash, Poison
Third Row: Radar, Damaged, Voodoo, Betrayal, Derailed
Fourth Row: Dope, Toxic, Habit, Ambush, Rewind

They are all brilliantly named and believe me when I say, that there are so many Makeup tutorial names to make out of them :). All of these eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented and they are so easy to blend. There are a mixture of matt and shimmery shades, so you are able to create everyday looks, going out looks, crazy looks, colourful looks etc.

Here are what the eyeshadow look like swatched and this is without using a primer. The eyeshadows have a pretty amazing staying power, but I have noticed that if you don't use a primer they can stain just the tiniest bit (its nothing to drastic but I would recommend using a primer). My overall thoughts on this palette are that its amazing and such a great addition to my makeup collection.

Once again Thankyou Littlemissstyleguru I really do appreciate it. Ever since I got this palette, it has been my go to palette, especially when I'm going to work, as everything is in on place and I'm not rushing trying to find eyeshadows.

Would I recommend this product? Yep :)
Would I try more Urban Decay Products? I plan to :)

Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) Makeup Tutorial

'Of Course it worked. I'm Katherine Pierce. I survive'

Well, I'm not gonna lie, I'm a big fan of the Vampire Diaries, I love the occasional Unpredictability of the Show and the cast are just brilliant.

Last year I did a tutorial for Katherine's Doppelganger Elena Gilbert. So this year I decided to do a look for Katherine. Katherine is definitely one of my favourite characters, she is so witty and brilliant and her fashion sense is to die for.  I will also be doing a look for Caroline Forbes who is another of my favourite characters.

If you would like to see the tutorial for this look then you can follow the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knYRPSMMgl8

Sleek Blush: Rose Gold

Okay so I know I'm a little bit late to this party, but how did I ever not buy products from sleek before????

Seriously though I purchased 3 palettes and a Blush and I am in LOVE!! Now if you've read this blog before then you will know that I absolutely adore MUA (Makeup academy), but Sleek are slowly taking over as my favourite brand.

So here is the blush that I purchased and can I just say how freaking awesome this colour. Not only is it a blush but in my honest opinion it can double as a highlighter. The colour is as the name suggests, a rosey colour with gold shimmer, its such a perfect spring/summer colour and very nicely adds that hint of a rosey glow.

The thing about this blushes: they last for ages. Seriously though I've had this blush since the end of January/beginning of February this yeah and I've barely made a dent in it. So yeah they are pretty awesome :)

Would I buy this again? YEP!!!
Would I recommend this product? Yep :)
Would I try more of the Sleek Blushes? I plan to :)

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers: Kooky and Reckless

Helloooo there everyone, I hope your all having a good day :)

Okay so today I'm going to be talking about the MUA Luxe lip lacquers. First of all as you may know, I absolutely love Makeup Academy as a brand. Their products are such great quality for such a small price.

MUA Luxe is an expansion of the MUA brand. These lip lacquers are two of the three products that I own from them and I will be doing a separate blog post on the Palette. The two lip lacquers that I have are Kooky and Reckless.

Now I do have to say, the packaging for these lip products are pretty cool. They come in a black cardboard packaging, with gold writing. The packaging of the lip products themselves is a glass packaging, with a black lid.

Kooky is a purple colour and is great for vamping up a look. It's also a very good colour for Halloween.

Reckless is a deep red colour and is great for Classic pin-up looks and for an everyday look, if your brave enough to wear a red lip everyday that is :)

These lip products are really good, the formulation is amazing, as is the pigmentation. When they dry, they dry to a matte finish and last pretty much all day. In total there are five lip colours in this range and they are priced at £3.00.

So if your looking for a lip colour that not only looks great and dries to a matte finish, the these are possibly the lip products for you :)

Do I like these lip lacquers? Yep :)
Would I recommend them? Yep
Would I try more colours in the range? Definitely

Thankyou for taking the time to read this :) I really do appreciate it :)

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers: Across the Universe and Shooting Star

Hello again Everyone :)

So if you've already, read my review/ramble (I tend to do that a lot...teehee) of the Rimmel London Apocalips range then you will know how awesome I think they are :) (Besides the smell...but I can get past that :)) So when I heard that they had brought out some new colours, I decided to give them a try.

Now I only picked two up but I do plan on getting some more. So the two I picked up just happen to be red and nude (I have an obsession with those two colours lately...it's crrraaazzzy).

The two colours that I added to my collection are Across the Universe (The Red colour) and Shooting Star (The Nude colour).

Across the Universe is a slightly deeper red than Big Bang. Where as Big Bang is more of an orangey/pinky (I can't really decide if it's orange or pink) toned red, Across the Universe is more burgundy toned and more suitable for the Autumnal/Winter months (I however will wear it in the Spring/Summer because it's such a gorgeous colour).

Shooting Star is more of a darker nude compared to Nude Eclipse. Where as Nude Eclipse is a nude with a pink undertone, Shooting Star is more of an orangey toned brown. Both of these nude colours look great with a smokey eye.

Now as I previously said, in my other Rimmel Apocalips review, the staying power of these lips lacquers is out of this world (see what I did there :D) and the pigmentation of them is amazing. The smell how ever is the only fault I can find with these products, I can't really describe the smell but it's kind of earthy, but for the quality of the product itself....I can get past that.

If your looking to buy some of these Lip Lacquers then you can find them anywhere that sells Rimmel London Products ( Superdrug, Boots, Tesco etc.) and they are normally around the £5.99/£6.99 price range.

As you can see in the pictures above they have a glossy finish, but they don't budge (you may want to blot the product after you've applied it so your teeth don't end up the same colour) and will last you pretty much all day.

Do I like these lip lacquers? Yep except for the smell but I can get past that :)
Would I recommend them? Yep
Would I try more colours in the range? Definitely

Thankyou for taking the time to read this :) I really do appreciate it :)

Hello Kitty Lipsticks

Well hello again Everyone!!!

So I've seen a few YouTubers (That I'm subscribed to) talk about these lipsticks and I thought to myself 'I would like to try them out', and it just so happens that the last time I was in Superdrug, I noticed these lipsticks. There were a variety of colours but these two really caught my eye.

First of all, can we just admire the packaging. Seriously though, How cute is it? Not only that but the colour of Hello Kitty's Head is a good indication as to what the colour of the actual lipstick might be (as shown in the above picture). The two colours that are shown in the pictures are Urban Punk (which is the light peachy-pink colour) and Underground Queen ( which is a Hot pink colour). Now I do apologise for the lighting in these pictures, my photography skills are pretty shocking.

However, getting back onto the subject of these lipsticks. They are pretty amazing quality for the price they are. The lipsticks are individually priced at £1.99 and the pigmentation is freaking amazing, they also have a really good lasting quality as well.

As you can see in the pictures of the swatches Urban Punk (The peachy colour) is quite light and is very similar to Collection's Lipstick in Birthday Suit and Underground Queen (The Pink Colour) is definitely a hot pink. These lipstick are pretty comparable to the MUA Lipsticks which are only £1

Do I like these lipsticks? Yes
Would I recommend them? Yes I would
Would I try more colours in the range? I may be tempted to :)

Review: New MUA £1 Matte Lipsticks

Hey ALL!!  Today I have a review for you guys, so let's go ahead an get started.

As you all know MUA is my favourite all round brand, their products are affordable and amazing quality. So when I heard that they had brought out some new products, I jumped at the chance to purchase some of them. One of the products they brought out was a new Matte range which included, lipsticks and a new eyeshadow palette. In this review I'm going to be reviewing the lipsticks from this range.
L-R: Scarlet Siren, Peachy Keen and Wild Berry

Scarlet Siren is a classic staright red colour, meaning it doesn't have an undertone to it. This colour is great for everyday wear, if your going to a special event or maybe even a night out.

Scarlet Siren Swatched

Scarlet Siren in the packaging

Peachy Keen is a gorgeous pinky coral colour, This colour is great for everyday wear and looks great with a smoky eye.
Peachy Keen Swatched

Peachy Keen in the packaging
Wild Berry looks a nice berry in the packaging, but when swatched the colour is a gorgeous purple. This can be used for everyday wear (if you like that sort of thing). In my opinion this colour is a perfect Autumnal colour, it looks great with either a neutral or smoky eye.

Wild Berry Swatched

Wild Berry in the Packaging

The lipsticks are amazingly matte, have great pigmentation, come in a Chic white packaging and like with all MUA lipstick they come with a little pot that you can unscrew from the bottom of the tube, that contains more of the product

. Where as some matt lipsticks can be drying, these are really quite moisturizing. I would recommend wearing a lip balm underneath though. The staying power of these lipstick is amazing, and I only had to reapply them twice throughout the day. However this is going to be different for everybody.

Would I recommend these? Yes. Would I buy them again? Definitely. My Verdict: is that once again MUA have created yet another amazing product. :)

So if you see these in your local Superdrug then I would recommend picking them up :)

Review: Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers

I've heard so many good things about these lip lacquers, so I decided to try them for my self. In total there are 8 Lip Lacquers, Galaxy, Celestial, Nova, Apocaliptic, Big Bang, Luna, Stellar and Nude Eclipse. Of these 8 I have 6 and here are the swatches for them.

L-R: Nude Eclipse, Stellar, Big Bang, Apocaliptic, Galaxy and Celestial

Apocaliptic

Big Bang

Celestial

Galaxy

Nude Eclipse

Stellar
Each lip lacquer is highly pigmented and has a very good staying power. Apocaliptic is a hot pink colour, Big Bang is a nice bright red colour, Celestial is a rosy pink colour, Galaxy is a pink/purple with purple glitter, Nude Eclipse is a nice neutral colour and possible the most disliked colour of the bunch (I for one really like it) and finally stellar has more of a corally pink edge to it.

I do like these lip lacquers and they are great if you don't want to go through the trouble of applying lip liner, then lipstick. The only thing that I find that I don't like about them is the smell, I can't really put a name to it, but its not too overpowering.

I would give these lip lacquers a 8/10.

Urban Decay Naked1 Palette Dupes: MUA and VIVO :)

Hey Guys so I have a question. Do you really want the Naked1 Palette from Urban Decay, but don't have enough money? I know I do, BUT! (Yep I put that in capitals its a BIG BUT) I have just the thing to help you get these twelve amazing eyeshadows at a much cheaper price (Okay make that two things).

The Urban Decay Naked Palette
Eyeshadows L-R: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half-Baked, Smog, Dark Horse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal (I don't own this Image, I found it on google, just putting that out there so i dont get shouted out :))
Now we all know that these eyeshadows are pretty amazing, but the price of the palette can make your purse scream in terror and run away (£40 may not seem alot, but believe me it can be). So I have two alternatives for you that will help you save money and still have the same amazing eyeshadows at a much more affordable price. Now one of these palettes you can find in a drugstore/highstreet shop and the other can be found in a supermarket (which I'm sure is taking over the world).

VIVO Colourblock Eyeshadow Palette in Unprotected
The first alternative is the Unprotected palette from VIVO. Now this brand is exclusive to Tesco in the UK, and unfortunately they don't ship worldwide (I don't know if they can be found in other countries either:/).

The Vivo Colourblock Palette in Unprotected

Like the Urban Decay Eyeshadows, the VIVO eyeshadows all have a different name and are a mix of matt and shimmery shades. Now I will admit that I don't own the Naked1 or Naked2 Palettes (I might have said that in the introduction to this, but I kinda have a tendency to repeat myself) so I can only really say that from what I've heard, the Urban Decay eyeshadows are amazingly pigmented. However I can tell you that the VIVO eyeshadows are crazily pigmented and you don't really need to use an eye primer with them (I do however recommend using an eye primer as it gives the eye shadows that extra wow factor).

The VIVO Eyeshadows from L-R: Escape, Forever, Flutter, Today, Wisp, Flow, Adore, Relax, Engage, Devine, Free and Awaken.
As you can see from the above swatches they are pretty pigmented (though the first two didn't want to show up) and the names are really sweet (or i think so anyways). I've used this palette a fair bit and I must say it is really awesome and at a price of £3.99 (that's on the website it may vary in store) you can't really get any better. So VIVO Cosmetics take a bow for your awesomeness :).

MUA Profesional Palette in Undressed
Alternative Two is from my all time favourite makeup brand MUA (and I believe they are bringing out a new palette called Undress Me Too which looks to be a dupe for the Naked2 Palette..stay tuned for a review anyways back to this :)) and this palette is called the Undressed palette. MUA are a brand that is exclusive to Superdrug here in the UK and they ship WORLDWIDE!! (Don't believe me? Check it out here: http://www.muastore.co.uk/index.php/)

The MUA Undressed Palette

You guys will know (if you follow me on Youtube, Facebook or Twitter) that I absolutely LOVE MUA! Their products are amazing and this palette is no exception. Like both the Urban Decay and VIVO palettes, the eyeshadows are crazily pigmented and are a mix of matt and shimmery shades. However unlike the Urban Decay and VIVO palettes their eyeshadows aren't named, but the name is not what makes something great, its the quality of the product itself, and believe me when I say that this palette is AMAZING!! Again you don't necessarily need to use a primer with these shadows (it just makes them more amazing:)).

The MUA Eyeshadows Swatched (Need I say more on Pigmentation :))

Again from the above picture you can see that they are amazingly pigmented and at £4 (that's 1p more than the VIVO palette dontcha know :)) you can't really go wrong. MUA take a bow for your awesomeness :).

So if your in the market for an Urban Decay Naked1 Palette dupe, then I hope this helps out a little bit, honestly guys I cannot say enough good things about these palettes, they are AMAZING and I highly recommend trying them out. They are a great mix of matt and shimmery shades, so there is something for everyone :) and this just goes to show that you don't need to buy high-end to get amazing quality products, Stay Safe, Beauitful and True to yourself and don't forget to dream big and follow your dreams :)

Review: Fraulein 38 -31 Piece Brush Set

So since I purchased these brushes, I have put them through hell. They are very easy to use and come in a handy little brush bag, so they are well packaged. The Fraulein brand itself is German and the name can be quite difficult to pronounce.

This particular brush kit, contains 31 red handled brushes. The bigger brushes, such as the fan brush, powder brush, foundation brush, all come with handy little brush guards which makes it easier to help them retain their shape after cleaning them. The smaller brushes come with plastic covers which are similar to the brush guards.

The only problem that I had with these brushes is that the large powder brush started shedding, before I had even started using it.
I wouldn’t suggest purchasing these brushes if you are looking for something that is synthetic, because even though they have a synthetic feel and look, they are actually made of animal hair. Now I have tested them against the Urban Beauty United brushes which are synthetic and they feel the same, so with these brushes looks can be deciving.
Summary:

  • Bristles are made of Animal Hair (so not recommended for vegetarians or anyone looking for synthetic brushes)
  • Fairly cheap for a brush set of this size
  • All Red-handled Brushes
  • Larger Brushes have brush guards and the smaller size brushes have little plastic wraps.
  • Overall a good set of Brushes :)

Review: MUA The Artiste Collection Multi-Use Palette

When I first started using Makeup, I didn't really have a favourite brand, but as I started my Youtube Channel and got drawn more into the world of Makeup and different types of makeup, I started exploring the different makeup brands. Then I discovered MUA, baring in mind that this particular brand had been around for quite a while now.

So today I'm going to be reviewing the Artiste Collection Multi-Use Palette that MUA released in September 2012. This Palette contains 6 Marble-style eyeshadows, 2 Blushes, a Bronzer and a Highlighter, each with their own individual name.

The Eyeshadows

Pistachio

This is what the Pistachio eyeshadow looks like in the palette

The first marble eyeshadow in palette is called Pistachio and is white in colour with little flecks of a teal or turqouise kind of colour. When swirled together the colour becomes pearlescent. So if you swatch the colour on your hand like in the following photo, the colour will start off white and as you turn your hand the colour will turn a paleish blue. The eyeshadow has a slight shimmer to it and can be used as an all over the lid colour, or as a high light.

A Swatch of the Pistachio eyeshadow

Mocca

The second eyeshadow is called Mocca and is a cream colour with flecks of a deep plum-like purple. This is a great all over the lid colour and is shimmer as all the eyshadows in the palette are. It can be used on its own or blended with one of the other five shades.

This is what the Mocca eyeshadow looks like in the palette

This particular eyeshadow looks great as a highlight on the inner corner of the eye, as it really makes the eye look more awake and brighter. Again like all the eyeshadows in the palette it has a pearlescent effect and when swatched it looks like a failry skintoned kind of colour, but as you moved your hand you can see the hints of purple.

This is what the eyeshadow looks like when swatched

Ice
The Ice eyeshadow is a dark Blue colour with flecks of light blue. This colour makes a great outer corner and crease colour. It also makes a good liner colour as well.

This is what the eyeshadow looks like in the palette

Ice particularly looks great when used with pistachio as they both compliment each other very well. Even though the eyeshadows are shimmery, they don't give the effect of being really 'in your face' when applied to the eye. Like the other eyeshadows they give a perlescent effect and look great on their own or with another colour. When swatched the colour seems to be very sheer, but as with all MUA products they are very pigmented and very buildable.

This is what Ice looks like when swatched

Grape

Grape eyeshadow in the palette

Grape Eyeshadow is a purple eyeshadow with flecks of light blue and is a really great all over the lid, or outer corner colour. As with all the colours this eyeshadow has a slight shimmer to it and gives a really nice pearlescent effect when applied to the eyelid. With these eyeshadows you can use an eye primer or you can just use them as they are. I would recommend using an eye primer, becauce even though they are pigmented, the eye primer will give them that extra boost and give them a more vibrant look. An eyeshadow with this look would give make the purple more vibrant and show the blue undertone alittle more.

Chocolate Eye shadow in the Palette

Again the Chocolate eyeshadow looks sheer when swatched but when applied on the eyelid the colour is amazing

Cookie

The Last eyeshadow in the palette is colled cookie. This eyeshadow is a really nice brown colour with flecks of pink. All these eyehadows are amazing and they all have a really great colour pay off. I've been a big fan of MUA for a while now and I love their products. These eyeshadows are proof that you don't need to spend a fortune to get a good quality product.

Cookie eyeshadow in the palette

Cookie eyeshadow swatched. This is proof of the amazing colour payoff that these eyeshadows have
Moving onto the Blushers, Bronzer and Highlighter. The blushers are really amazing quality, they give a nice wash of colour without being overly 'in your face'. Pink Sparkle is a pink blush and Primrose is more of a corally pink blush. They are both buildable and very pigmented, so you only need a small amount, unless you want to use a lot of blush.

The bronzer, named Bronzed is also very pigmented. Now I've never really been a fan of bronzer as they tend to make me look orange. However this particular bronzer gives me a nice tanned look with out being too orange. It is very pigmented so again you'll only need to use a tiny amount, but it is great to use as a contour colour or to add a touch of a tan.

Shimmer Kiss is what the Highlighter is called. Its a shimmery pink colour and gives a really nice shine when applied to the cheek bones and to the inner corner of the eyes. Again it is very pigmented so you'll only need a small amount.

Pink Sparkle Blush in The Palette and Swatched (the first one in Both Pictures)

Primrose Blush, Bronzed Bronzer and Shimmer Kiss in the Palette and Swatched

All the products in this palette are really amazing and I highly recommend this to anyone, as it is great for those just starting with makeup. Another great MUA Product : )

All the Blushes and Bronzers Swatched (L-R_ Pink Sparkle, Primrose, Bronzed and Shimmer Kiss)

All the Eyeshadows Swatched Top (L-R): Pistachio, Mocca, Ice, Grape, Chocolate. Bottom: Cookie

All in all, I really like this palette. It's great for if you ever go travelling as you have all your eyeshadows, bronzer, highlighter and blushes in one place and your not carrying around a lot of separate products.
